The Digital Domain Online Radio Show for August 4, 2025

Mon, 11 Aug 2025
This episode is centered on Bob’s week in review. What sound do you never want to hear at a sound check? What sound did the weather make on the way to a gig in which Gina Bilardi was the guest vocalist in Bob’s band? Spoiler alert, they did make it, as you get to hear a song from that gig on this show – and John Moore’s mishearing of a lyric broke Nick. Speaking of broken Nick, ‘Me, Myself, and Chip’ is back to do…exactly that. Ray has a catchup call that was, in fact, appropriately timed for once! He gets a standing ovation for that. Jayson Smith wonders – Why did they do that to the Tom Lehrer album? …What did they do? You’ll have to find out by downloading this episode, which also contains the usual panoply of calls and messages…Another week, another archive for your listening pleasure.

The Digital Domain Online Radio Show for July 28, 2025

The opening sweeper – even if Nick cued up the wrong one initially – is particularly poignant this time, as it was one of the ancient ones produced back in the days when Nick’s favorite artist was Ozzy Osbourne. Given the death of the Prince of Darkness the previous week, it hits differently tonight. Nick and Bob talk a little about that and ruminate on entertainment deaths that hit listeners hard. This dovetails nicely with one of the main subjects – Internet Radio legend Clark Walter Smith, otherwise known as Venison88, died 5 years ago yesterday. Bob counts down his top 5 Venison moments, educating the show’s current listener base, most of whom did not know the man. Bob is particularly annoyed by the concept of a heat advisory in the middle of July, fostering a miniature discussion about that. John Moore is back with another Claude 4 story that places various station friends – and a few adversaries – on another crazy coaster. Bob’s reactions to this one are particularly strong. The recently late Tom Lehrer is also a part of this episode – Jayson Smith found the lyrics to ‘Poisoning Pigeons IN the Park’ having been used in a metal cover, while John Moore made Ernie sing ‘The Masochism Tango’. All that plus the usual panoply of phone calls and messages – they did two hours without a top of the hour song. That tells you it was an unusually smooth show, which is now here for your downloading pleasure.

Origins: 30 Years of Nick and Bob, the Digital Domain's past, present, and continued survival: July 26, 2025

Sat, 26 Jul 2025
On July 5, 1995, Nick and Bob met for the first time at a summer camp. While the camp years were previously covered in an Origins special, Nick and Bob are in a very good emotional place and would like to share that place with you, by giving a first person account of the Digital Domain’s history, including the trials and tribulations that came in the course of doing the show for nearly 23 years. This is a smooth presentation of the discussions and disagreements that have happened over the course of this show’s lengthy tenure across two different stations in three separate stints, including disclosing publically several times that this show nearly ceased to exist as an active program. At the same time, this episode is also a thank you note to the listeners, new and old, who have grown with the show and who are now as responsible as the hosts are for the best era the Digital Domain has ever had. This Origins special puts a bow on the past…A nice, feel-good moment of retrospection as the show moves forward.

The Digital Domain Online Radio Show for july 21, 2025

Tue, 22 Jul 2025
Welcome to Rebirth week! July 23 is the 4th anniversary of HKC Radio’s second incarnation, and Nick and Bob get it started by Bob’s 4 marquis moments from the past 4 years. They haven’t been ranked but presented - with clips – in chronological order. Did anyone guess the most predictable of Bob’s picks? After Bob heard a track Nick played on Sonic Onslaught, a discussion ensued of weird band names. This discussion also buttressed some particularly lively moments from Katie’s busking, it’s almost as though it was planned that way…Which it really wasn’t. Nick found another amusing moment you’re technically not supposed to hear from Sleep Baseball, and the reactions – and the show’s on parody – make everyone combust. All that plus phone calls, messages, and audio of people…falling…make for a very relaxed Monday night of funny. Download it!

The Digital Domain Online Radio Show for July 14, 2025

Sun, 20 Jul 2025
What show reference does Jayson Smith use as a unit of measurement? He’ll be happy to tell you; it was part of a rollicking beginning to a show akin to a Baseball game in which everyone in the order gets a hit. In particular, the listeners have figured out the secret to how to break Nick and have taken advantage, from something Jayson said on a call to an Easter Egg Alex added to a musical produced bit – the latter broke Bob, too. Also, a quick correction to something said during the show…The David Lee Roth clip Alex added to his package of submissions was not related canonically to Dora the Explorer or The Backyardigans but was his reaction – in music – to the song you heard first. Monty calls with his annual update from the American Council of the Blind’s convention. There are two announcements…One for an upcoming special Nick and Bob will host to celebrate their friendship and this show on July 26, and the other for the newest weekly show on HKC Radio from Liz. Bob and the band at the homestead jammed on…Jay-Z music? You’ll hear it. Finally, John Moore is back with another AI imagining in story form…Join the alternate universe forms of Bob, Kevin, Christina, and several others as they ride America’s newest roller coaster…and perhaps its most metallic? All that plus phone calls and messages are presented herein.
